Miss Rachel
AVV Calisthenics Club

I have been involved in Calisthenics for 25 years as a competitor, commencing in the sport as a Junior, performing many solos, duos and graceful girls . I have  also been lucky enough to also represent S.A at state level.

I began coaching in 2009 and have coached teams from Sub-Juniors through to Seniors as well as solos, duos and graceful girls. I was honoured to coach the 2016 Intermediate Darwin development team and be the assistant coach of the 2018 Sub-Junior Darwin development team. 2019 was an exciting year for me, as I was appointed the Sub Junior National Assistant coach and again in 2020, the Junior National assistant coach.

In 2012, I joined the SA Precision Team which was coached by Mrs Glenys Anderson and went on to perform in London in the ‘Big Dance’ ahead of the 2012 Olympics and in 2013 we were invited to China to perform in the tourism festival.

My journey at AVV started when I was a first year Intermediate and took a break as I moved into Seniors which is when I had my children. I am now back in 2021 as a coach, competitor and a Cali mum and I look forward to continuing my passion for this wonderful sport at AVV.

What I love about Calisthenics is the life long friendships made. Aa a coach, I love watching the girls confidence develop while having fun in lesson and teaching calisthenics technique through fun routines. The excitement of competition time and seeing the joy when the girls come off the stage, is why I continue coaching in this great sport.

Outside of being a calisthenics coach I work full time in education, while also supporting my son who plays football and my daughter who is an Intermediate at AVV. I enjoy spending time with my partner, children and friends in my downtime.
