Miss Lyn
AVV Calisthenics Club

My love for calisthenics began at the age of 7. I attended the Richmond Baptist Calisthenics Club and was taught by the well renowned Rosaria Day.

I was selected in the Junior, Intermediate & Senior Championship Teams travelling to Ballarat in 1965, 67, 68, 69, 70 & 71 – Dianne Harris was the Coach for all of my State Teams!

After a taste of Graceful Girl success; gaining 2nd Place in the CASA intermediate final in 1969, I decided to work towards entering the prestigious Graceful Girl Section in Ballarat & left school half-way through Year 11 to study full time Ballet at the Joanne Priest Ballet School.

And in 1971 I did it! I won the CASA & Royal South Street Most Graceful Girl under the careful guidance of Alice Corrigan.

I began my coaching at Fulham Calisthenics Club, which later changed its name to Lyneece Calisthenics College. I also taught at Marion Calisthenics Club & started Paralyn Calisthenics College.

In 1972 & 1974, I was the Teacher of the South Australian Junior Championship Team, winning the Aggregate in 1974. In 75, 76, 77 I taught the SA Intermediate Championship Team – gaining at hat-trick; winning the Aggregate in all of these years!

I was privileged to teach my sister her winning Graceful Girl at South Street in 1978 and once again won the Intermediate Aggregate in 1979.

In an unprecedented event, 1980 saw myself, together with Barbara Prizrinac (Teacher of Clearview Calisthenics Club) & Dianne Synott (Teacher of Regent Calisthenics Club in Victoria), take a combined team of 55 girls plus parents & friends to the West Coast of America to promote Calisthenics abroad and they loved us! This was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience for everyone involved. In the same year, I also taught the Senior Championship Team who won the Aggregate in Ballarat.

From 1981, my focus became the Australian Dance Drill Team and for the next 27 years I took hundreds of girls on trips to America, England, Scotland, Japan & South Africa. During these years I also choreographed many large events including Opening Ceremonies & half time entertainment for the Australian Grand Prix, SANFL Grand Finals, 36ers Cheerleaders and have been involved with the Adelaide Christmas Pageant since 1989.

In 2016, I was delighted to return to calisthenics to assist Lisa with the AVV Masters Team & loved competing with the girls at the Pan Pacific Games in 2018! I assisted Amy with the Juniors in 2019 and have loved to get to know many of the AVV girls whom I get to continue to develop & grow by sharing my knowledge and passing on my passion to the next generation.
