My calisthenics journey started at Ridgehaven Calisthenics Club where I was a member for 23 years, competing in every age section from Tinies through to Seniors at A Grade (later Champ) level. During those years, I competed in many Graceful Girl and Solo competitions as well as being selected in the SA Championship Team in Juniors, Intermediates & Seniors.

My family was involved in every aspect of the Club for many years and my mother, father, sister and I are all proud Life Members.

I was fortunate enough to have been taught by some brilliant coaches who I learnt so much from and whose knowledge I’ve imparted on my students.

I began coaching in 2002, initially with Ridgehaven Tinies, Sub-Juniors as well as many Graceful Girls, Solos & Duos until “retiring” from Calisthenics in 2009.

In 2012, I joined the AVV Senior Team with my sister, Stefanie, and it was a blast, winning the Division 1 Aggregate.  In 2015, I became a “Cali Mum” when my daughter Abbey started Tinies at AVV, and from 2016 to 2018, I competed in the successful AVV Masters Team at the CASA & Pan Pacific Masters Games Competitions, which included gaining a silver medal in the Duo Section with Miss Amy!

After rekindling my passion for calisthenics, it was hard not to re-enter the world of coaching. Since 2018, I have taught our beautiful Competitive Tinies as well as many successful Solos, Duos & Graceful Girls. I coordinate & teach ACF Skills at our club and since 2021 I have been an accredited ACF Examiner.

Calisthenics has played a special part in my life & I continue to be involved because of the friends I make along the way and the passion I can share with the next generation.

I have always believed that calisthenics gives participants so many wonderful attributes that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Watching our AVV members develop into confident, resilient young people all whilst having fun, being active and making lifelong friends is what drives me to continue in our beautiful sport.

When I’m not at calisthenics I am busy at my full time Executive Assistant job and spending time with my wonderful husband, daughter and son.

In 2016 I began assisting my daughter’s teams with Miss Kylie Kurylowicz.

In 2019 Angella I co coached Seniors at Seaview, as well assisting Juniors at Marden. Over the next few years I coached subbies, tinies and inters at Marden. Over my time coaching solos and gracefuls in Whyalla I focused on intermediate and senior aged girls. Since becoming a parenti deve;oped patience for a younger age and for the last six years I have been lucky enough to develop some beautiful little dancers, resulting in four Tinies state titles and five Sub-Junior Championship state titles as well as many place getters. I began my calisthenics journey when I was 11 years old. I have competed at varying levels since being a Junior myself. I have competed in an Intermediate State Team as well as Composite Teams and continued to compete as a Senior up until 2019. I have also performed at an International level with performances in London and China, through the SA Precision Team.

I have been a Calisthenics coach for 20 years. I have taught all age groups and I have had teams compete in varying divisions over the years. I’ve taught brand new students that have performed in the lower divisions and more experienced students in the championship division at AVV Calisthenics Club. In 2019 I was the Junior Darwin Assistant Coach. I’ve also coached two composite teams, taking a Junior and Intermediate team away to Mt Gambier in 2005 and 2006.

Both now and in the future years to come, I want to provide Calisthenics students with the confidence to work hard, achieve goals and improve from one lesson to the next whilst sharing the same love and passion that I have for the sport.

When I am not at Calisthenics, I am working shift work as a Police Officer. I have two children, Harrison and Mitchell who love their basketball and football. We like to go on a family camping adventure every school holidays together.

I began my Calisthenics journey when I was just 2 years old, with my mum being principal of the club at that time I pretty much had no choice in the matter. In saying this, I loved the sport from the very beginning. Continuing right through from Tinies to Seniors and competing in many SA National and Ballarat teams, my competitive cali life was very successful.

When I began team coaching in 2015, I knew that this was my true passion. In the years that I coached from 2015-2021 I mainly coached the Sub-Junior Team but also coached a year of Intermediates and Tinies. Coaching these three different age groups only heightened my skills and excitement for this sport. I took a break from club coaching in 2022 to assist the Junior National Team who became the 2022 Junior National Champions!

In 2023 I joined AVV Calisthenics Club coaching at Junior level.

I have been lucky enough to be super successful in my coaching of graceful, solos and duos. Since 2018 I have had 13 State Champions to date which is a dream come true.

I am Calisthenics obsessed. I spend a lot of my spare time composing creative ideas and themes for routines to give my team/soloists so they can be the best they can be! I am extremely passionate about this and love seeing the final product hit the stage at the end of a season.

I am so excited about continuing my Cali coaching journey at AVV Calisthenics Club and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing and successful club.

In my spare time I love spending time with my soon to be husband and 2 gorgeous Dalmatian children.

I started my calisthenics journey in 2002 at Seaton Calisthenics and competed there for 15 years gaining life membership. I then moved to AVV in 2015, this year being my 20th year as a competitor. I have been very lucky to have had some amazing coaches and role models throughout my years of competing at Championship and Division 1 level.

I started as a class assistant when I was 11 years old and absolutely loved helping and knew then that I wanted to be a coach in the future. I started officially coaching in 2015 at Seaton coaching Juniors and Intermediates both at Division 1 level and gaining great results, including the overall Team 2 aggregate in 2015. I commenced coaching at AVV in 2017 and since then coached and assisted through from Sub-Juniors up to Intermediates gaining outstanding results.

Over the years I have competed in Championship and Division 1 competitions as well as at the prestigious Ballarat Royal South Street competitions. I started competing in Solo and graceful comps as a Senior….I was too scared when I was younger!! I also competed in dance troupes at AVV doing various styles and going to Showcase Nationals in Queensland in 2016 and 2017. Calisthenics has always been a massive part of my life but my other passion is health and fitness so I have spent a lot of my time doing sports and anything to do with fitness, especially running!

I have also completed my Certificate III in fitness and gained a Bachelor of Human Movement at UNISA, which helped me further my knowledge about physical activity and health. I love the fact that I can use this knowledge and combine it with my Cali lessons. I think it is very important for every Cali girl to know the benefits of general fitness and health and how much it can improve their performance and strength.

I am so excited for 2022 to Co-Coach the Junior 2 team with Kelly and to be a part of such an amazing supportive club. Love my AVV family!

coaching journey. As an AVV coach, my sub-junior team and I have been lucky enough to become the 2022 and 2023 SA
State Champions. Throughout my years of calisthenics, I have been very fortunate to represent South Australia as a

I love sharing my passion for AVV and calisthenics with the girls I coach and providing them with an environment where
they feel safe and excited to learn. Where every member feels included and supported. I am so proud to be a part of AVV

I began Calisthenics when I was 6 years old and competed at Championship level throughout my performing career for 18 years. I have represented South Australia at the Ballarat Royal South Street Eisteddfods in Junior, Intermediate Championship and Senior sections. During those years I have been fortunate to be trained by many talented coaches (some who are now Adjudicators), develop friendships and perform with successful results as part of a Team.

My Coaching journey started when I was 16, initially assisting teams, then coaching Tinies and Sub-Juniors. One of my coaching highlights was being an Assistant Coach to the Ballarat Intermediate State Teams for several years.

I took a break from Cali to pursue other interests. I lived in Alberta Canada for 18 months working as a Nanny/Au Pair. I studied acting at the Adelaide School of Drama; undertook vocal singing training (in Canada and SA) for 5 years developing a vocal range of Mezzo-Soprano and performed in musical and drama theatre productions.

Since returning to Cali 14 years ago I have immersed myself into various facets of calisthenics and coaching including:

  • Coaching Tinies; Sub-Juniors and Juniors in all Divisions
  • Since 2015 coaching Division 1/Championship sections for Sub-Juniors and Juniors
  • 2017 Assistant Coach for the Darwin Development Sub-Junior Team
  • 2019 Head Coach for the Darwin Development Junior Team
  • Coaching Calisthenics Skills in Test 2, Grade 1 and Grade 2
  • Coaches Association CALSAC committee member for 6 years
  • Calisthenics Association CASA committee member for 4 years

I have coached Solo’s, Duo’s and Graceful Girls in all age sections including Masters. The opportunity to coach 1-1 (or 2-1) continues to be one of my favourite Cali seasons in developing and challenging the girls skills, technique and abilities whilst being adventurous with choreography.

In 2020 I joined the South Australian Precision Team as a Choreographer, a dance entertainment group that performs worldwide. Assisting with the coordination of 300 dancers performing in the 2020 National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant at the Adelaide Oval was an amazing and fun experience.

In 2021, I formally became a Writer for the South Australian Society of Calisthenics Adjudicators. Being a Writer provides me with the unique experience to watch and learn every aspect of our beautiful sport whilst providing me with the opportunity to continue to develop and enhance my coaching practice.

I am a qualified Social Worker with vast skills and experience working with at risk children and families in child protection and educational systems. These skills are very transferable when coaching children and adolescents – ensuring lessons are supportive, caring, safe and of course, fun.

Being a Cali Mum, a National Mum and co-coaching alongside with my daughter Holly has been one of the most important and amazing experiences. To support and participate in your child’s passion, dedication, commitment, and determination to be the best they can be in the sport they love, is to me, what being a loving and unconditional parent is about.

Although my Holly has taken on new adventures in following her dreams overseas, joining AVV Calisthenics Club has become my new and extended family. As part of the amazing and talented Coaching Team, my coaching goals are to inspire, promote passion and pride in working towards accomplishing individual achievements; and to promote team commitment, spirit and foster positive team friendships.

My passion for calisthenics and performing began at a young age. I commenced my calisthenics journey as a four year old Tiny and continued to compete right through to Seniors  in 2019. In 1998, I moved over to the Athelstone Calisthenics Club where I competed at A grade level. It is here where I made some amazing lifelong friends. Over the years I was fortunate to travel and compete in Ballarat as well as in  state competitions and numerous solos, duos and graceful girls.

I began coaching in 2004 and have had the pleasure of coaching girls across all age groups, from our rising star Tinies to our Senior sections. Within the many years of coaching I have had the pleasure of teaching a number of solos, gracefuls and duos. In 2005 and 2006 I was given the opportunity be an assistant coach with a junior composite team which competed in Mount Gambier. In 2015, I took a short break from coaching after my daughter was born way too early and returned in 2020, after being given the amazing opportunity to be part of the AVV family.

I have also studied performing arts with a major in musical theatre. Upon leaving school I studied a bachelor of midwifery/nursing and most recently venturing out into social work. I have a love for science but most of all I have a passion for helping others succeed and achieve their goals. When I am not at cali I am busy being a ‘basketball’ mum to my 2 boys Jaxon and Mason as well as being a ‘dance’ mum to my daughter Miah. In 1998 I moved to Golden Heights Calisthenics Club where I stayed for 26 years. During these years I competed as a Junior, Intermediate and Senior and I was selected to represent SA in the Intermediate State team in 2004, travelling to Ballarat. I have competed in many Graceful Girl and Solo competitions.

I began coaching in 2008 and successfully coached the Golden Heights Junior team from 2009 until 2022. I also coached the Intermedidate team in 2014, 2022 and 2023. I have been a graceful, solo, duo and Pupil Skills coach for girls aged Sub-Junior to Intermediate since 2014. In 2023 I was the assistant coach for the SA Intermediate Development Team. In 2024 I am excited to start a new chapter of my coaching journey with the AVVCC Sub-Juniors.

In 2023, I became a “Cali Mum” when my daughter Giselle completed her first year as a Tinie. I’ve seen the sport through new eyes and watching Giselle love it so much all by herself has been the highlight of my year. Watching her on the stage for her first Graceful at 2.5 years old and seeing how much she loves dancing and performing will be something I cherish forever.

I am a big believer of teaching the basics. I believe that to be a successful calisthenics girl, you need to be taught the foundations correctly right from the start. I want to give them the correct foundations so that they can build on them as the years go on to be the best calisthenics girl they can be.

People ask me why I’ve been involved in calisthenics for so long and it’s hard to explain why. Calisthenics has given me so much an is a huge part of my, I cherish the friendships I have made and will continue to make. I hope to share my love of calisthenics with all the girls I coach. I believe that calisthenics instils lifelong skills in our girls and as a coach I want them to know that as long as I am a part of their life, I will be part of their cheer squad. I want to help them to succeed in all aspects of their life, not just in calisthenics.

Outside of calisthenics, I’m a wife and mum of two beautiful kids, Harry and Giselle . We have a cavoodle called Louie. I am the Operational Communications Manager for a large national Superfund. We love travelling as a family and are slowly ticking off the discovery parks in SA.

I began my calisthenics journey as an eager 5-year-old at Carisbrook Calisthenics Club. After 5 years, I moved onto Valley View Calisthenics Club where I continued as a Junior, Intermediate and Senior. My Senior calisthenics story then continued at Ridgehaven Calisthenics Club until 2008 when I competed for the last time (well so I thought)!

From 2009-2017 I practised yoga and learnt the art of pole dancing. I returned to Calisthenics here at AVV in 2018 to join our Masters team for an extremely successful year at the CASA State Championships and the Pan Pacific Masters Games. 2019 found me (pregnant with my 2nd child) back on stage in the Senior Championship Division.

Throughout my competitive years I was lucky enough to be selected to represent South Australia in the 1994 Junior Championship Team, 1996 & 1997 Intermediate Championship Teams & 2002 Senior Championship Team. These State trips fill my memory bank with some of my fondest calisthenics memories.

I’ve assisted Merron with coaching Tinies from 2002-2008 at Ridgehaven and 2018 – present at AVV. It really is a pleasure to be able to help each and every one of our students learn and grow as they improve their flexibility, rhythm, posture, confidence and most importantly, build friendships with their teammates & club members.

Calisthenics teaches us to point our toes and lift our chins, but more importantly it teaches us to work as a team whilst also working towards our own individual goals. I really do believe calisthenics teaches us so many life lessons and important values. I will be forever grateful to the coaches I have had and friends I have made during my calisthenics journey; to this day they are some of the most wholesome friendships I have.

Away from coaching Tinies, I am an active member and Vice President of the AVV Fundraising Committee and the clubs Fees Administrator. I am Mum to Odin (6) & Bonnie (4). I should also mention that I am Cali Mum to Bonnie who is about to embark on her 3rd year as a non-competitive tinie. I work part time, running a chiropractic clinic and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club and assist my Fiancé with admin for our carpentry business.

I began coaching over 15 years ago and have coached Tinies, Sub Juniors, Juniors and Intermediates. In 2011, I took the Junior team to the Ballarat competitions and gained 2nd place overall. In 2014, I was assistant coach to the Intermediate National team gaining 2nd place

In 2021, I have the opportunity to co-coach our beautiful Intermediate team again, which I hope to not only challenge them and teach them new skills but to continue the discipline and respect that they then take into everyday life. I am also a dedicated member of our Senior team with a wonderful group of young ladies.

Away from Calisthenics I work full time in administration, I am part of a dance group Bellarouge where we perform at events all around Adelaide and have been part of the Adelaide 36ers Dancers. I spend most of my weekends with my son watching my husband play Football and catching up with friends.
